Recently, Sammo Hung (洪金寶) promoted his new movie “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In” <九龍城寨之圍城> during an interview, where he was asked about his past resentment with Stephen Chow (周星馳). Back then, Stephen Chow had directed and starred in the movie “Kung Fu Hustle” <功夫> and initially hired Sammo Hung for the action choreography. However, the two had a falling out, and Sammo Hung left partway through, after which Yuen Woo-ping (袁和平) took over.
The host mentioned a rumor that due to the excessive mosquitoes in Shanghai, Sammo Hung couldn’t bear it and returned to Hong Kong, which displeased Stephen Chow. To this, Sammo Hung admitted that it was indeed a “no return” situation. He mentioned going back to Hong Kong to see a doctor, “then he (Stephen Chow) told me not to come back for shooting.” When further asked for his opinion on Stephen Chow, Sammo Hung simply stated, “I prefer not to comment.”
