On May 9th, according to the official website of the Paris Olympics, Chinese actress Zhao Lusi (趙露思) will serve as one of the torchbearers for the 10th leg of the Olympic torch relay in Paris. The torch relay will take place in the Gers department on May 18-19, which is located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, close to the Pyrenees Mountains, and is dubbed “Little Tuscany”. The official website indicates that among the 10 torchbearers at the French Gers leg, all except Zhao Lusi are French.
The overall design of the Olympic and Paralympic torches is in champagne gold, made of steel, 70 centimeters in length, and weighs approximately 1.5 kilograms each. The design language of the torch highlights the concepts of “equality,” “peace,” and “water.” The designer of the torch is Frenchman Mathieu Lehanneur. The Olympic torch will arrive at the port of Marseille on May 8th, subsequently beginning its relay within France and parts of overseas territories, finally reaching the opening ceremony of the Olympics on the evening of July 26th, local time.
