On February 2nd, Du Enhu revealed that in the defamation case filed by Ma Su (马苏) against Huang Yiqing (黄毅清), the second trial was held in Beijing on January 30th, upholding the original sentence. On top of a 15-year sentence for drug trafficking, Huang Yiqing was sentenced to an additional one year and two months for defamation against Ma Su. With concurrent sentences, the court decided on a total imprisonment of 16 years.
Huang Yiqing, the ex-husband of actress Huang Yi (黄奕), boasts an impressive resume. A native of Shanghai, he pursued his studies in Australia before attending a university in the United States. Upon graduating at the age of 25, he returned to China and established the SSCC Shanghai Supercar Club on his own merit.
Reportedly, Huang Yi and Huang Yiqing met at a party and soon started a relationship. In 2013, Huang Yi gave birth to a daughter in a Los Angeles hospital. However, by the end of the year, the couple had fallen out. On November 25th, 2013, Huang Yiqing posted several tweets accusing Huang Yi of mistreating their daughter at home and alleging that her public persona was vastly different from her private behavior. Surprisingly, the next evening, Huang Yiqing took to social media to reflect on his actions and apologize to Huang Yi, marking a stark contrast in his behavior.
On June 16th, 2014, Huang Yi issued a legal notice seeking divorce from Huang Yiqing, accusing him of spreading rumors and domestic violence. What followed was a lengthy and public dispute.
The notoriety from his dispute with Huang Yi seemed to embolden Huang Yiqing, leading him to make various “exposures,” such as falsely accusing Jiang Chao of drug use, and defaming Ma Su with allegations of drug use and prostitution.
After enduring six consecutive false accusations on social media, Ma Su could no longer tolerate it and took legal action against Huang Yiqing, seeking criminal responsibility for defamation. While it’s not uncommon in the entertainment industry for celebrities to sue netizens for defamation, most cases are settled through civil litigation with an apology and a modest compensation.
However, in this case of defamation by Huang Yiqing, Ma Su was determined to hold the defamer criminally responsible, despite the increased costs. The first trial, held on September 8th, 2023, resulted in Huang Yiqing being sentenced to one year and two months in prison. Dissatisfied, Huang Yiqing appealed, but the second trial upheld the original verdict.
Huang Yiqing’s brazen actions eventually led to his downfall. In 2019, he was reported for drug use, and the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison for drug trafficking, deprived him of political rights for three years, and ordered the confiscation of 50,000 yuan in assets.
With the second trial confirming the sentence, Ma Su finally saw justice served after five years. On February 1st, the day after the verdict, Ma Su shared photos of her trip to Lhasa, visibly happy and laughing.
On February 2nd, Huang Yi, Huang Yiqing’s ex-wife, also shared her New Year look. She wore a red Chinese-style long dress, adorned with a golden dragon embroidered on the fabric, exuding festivity and elegance. With her arms spread wide and a subtle smile, her gaze was profound, showcasing her excellent state of mind.
